A. Changes in Organization

During May the following changes in Organization took place:

5 May—1st Lt. ROBERT F. HEIL relieved from assignment as Squadron Supply Officer and reassigned Group Headquarters as Transportation Officer.

8 May—Capt. WILLIAM R. DUNN assigned to the squadron from the 406th Group Headquarters, with duty as Flight Commander.

13 May—First Lt. CHARLES B. HALL entered in morning report as "missing" after failure to return from operational mission over France.

16 May—1st Lt. WARREN T. LENHART, and 2nd Lts. ELDON L. DUNKLEBURGER, HOWARD M. PARK, PAUL W. MAZAL, WILLIAM S. MANOS and Flight Officer ALFRED W. MARKER assigned to the squadron from the 342nd Group, Atcham, England, with duty as pilots.

18 May—2nd Lt. WILLIAM L. BELL assigned to squadron from 342nd Group, with duty as pilot.

19 May—2nd Lt. FRANK H. SHEPARD assigned to Organization from 360th C.C.T.S., AAB, Pueblo, Colorado, with duty as Supply Officer.

C. Station Changes, Date of Arrival and Departure

Squadron departed 24 May from airfield 4-1/2 miles southwest of Ashford, Kent, and proceeded 15 miles south to Brinzette Airfield. Squadron departed from Brinzette Airfield 25 May and returned to original airfield near Ashford.

D. Losses in Action

13 May—1st Lt. CHARLES B. HALL missing from operational mission over France. While leading his flight in escorting A-20 aircraft in bombing airdrome at Beauvais Lt. Hall's plane was seen smoking and a parachute opened beneath his plane. Lt. Hall bailed out in the vicinity of Gisors, France, and that was the last time he was seen.
